Southeastern Conference selects StatMonitr for 2011 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. -- The Southeastern Conference and StatBroadcast Systems will partner at the 2011 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament to provide real-time statistical data to credentialed media using StatBroadcast's StatMonitr system, company president Nate Policar announced today.
The 2011 SEC Tournament will be played March 10 - 13, 2011 at the Goergia Dome in Atlanta and features all twelve teams in the conference, playing a total of eleven games. The conference semifinals and finals will be shown on national network television by ESPN on ABC.
"We are extremely proud to announce our new partnership with the Southeastern Conference, which represents the first BCS conference that will use our technology at their championship tournament," said Policar. "In addition to being able to serve the thousands of credentialed media members which will attend this event, we are excited to work with the twelve universities that will be represented in this tournament. The SEC's member schools are widely considered to be some of the best institutions and athletic departments in the nation."
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has 12 member institutions and was established in 1933. It was a founding and current member of the BCS, earning an automatic bid in football, and sponsors championships in nine men's and ten women's sports. It is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
SEC member institution University of Kentucky also uses StatBroadcast for its on-campus events. Joining the West Coast, Mountain West and Missouri Valley, the SEC will be the fourth conference to use StatBroadcast at its tournament in 2011.
